Re: Stalinism And Standards of Intellectual Discourse




Obviously, those groups which openly taught Stalin, such as the
Progressive Labor cult in the U.S., Maoists and Hoxha-ites of all stripes
are Stalinist. They call themselves such. I would also place the "offical"
Communist Parties in this catagory, since they uphold the bureaucratic
anti-worker system that Stalin is identified with. Groups which uphold
"Stalinist" ideology, such as the "theory" of socialism in one country may
be considered Stalinist. This, however, is probably an un-Marxist way of
analyizing Stalinism, since it relies on ideology, rather that the role
that the group plays, although the two are often linked.

Perhaps Stalinism ought to be placed on the back burner until the
Fascism seminar is over, since the two phenomena are inextricably linked.
Both are punishments to the working class for failing to carry through its
revolutions.
