Farewell Steve
The Digest headlines told me it was final before I had read it:
Steve.Keen@xxxxxxxxxx Bye all
With the new standards of emotional literacy conquered for
the intelligentsia by Princess Diana and her therapist (so
alien to the Bolsheviks) I shall say I cried for quite
a long time. OK I feel run down after flu, and vulnerable in
other ways. But. But.But.
I came onto this list because of Steve's posts on chaos theory.
He has been the most sustained and complicated and always
polite opponent, over value theory. He has been ally, opponent, and
friend for more than a year.
We have come a long distance. And the argument had reached a stage.
I could not persuade Steve that value was itself the pattern
created by the non-linear dynamics, and I had no inclination even to
consider angrily trying to force him. Even though, as Blake implies,
beams of hate are less complicated to bear.
Perhaps this list is only a cross-roads, a meeting place. People
must come and people must go.
What a strange medium: so impersonal, yet so personal. So personal,
yet so impersonal.
Farewell and Take care.
Cheers,
Chris, the one in London.
