Re: C of C, Solidarity, DSA

Regarding the DSA, I find it has renewed possibility and energy. As a
socialist who, like C. Wright Mills, hates liberals perhaps even more than
conservatives, I still can't stand to see the welfare state dismantled.
Feeling a major need to become more politically active, I joined the
fledgling New Hampshire chapter of DSA, and within its first year have become
the Chairperson. Although DSA is still too much like the leftist wing of the
Democratic party for my tastes, the level of my general alienation has forced
me into some action. We have held rallies in NH (particularly when
presidential candidates are around) on broad issues like economic justice,
jobs for all, health care for all, etc.. Also, I was impressed with the head
of DSA, Alan Charney, when he visited our new chapter from New York. DSA has
excellent newsletters, as well. Christy Hammer (chammer@xxxxxxx)
