Thank you for your intelligent post regarding Stalin. I believe the
English title of the Koestler novel to which you referred is Darkness at
Noon (1941), which concerns the execution of an old Bolshevik for his
"deviationist" belief in the role and rights of "the individual." He also
wrote The Yogi and the Commissar (1945) amd The God That Failed (1951)(an
essay), but these are not as well known.
In any case, reading your post was like a breath of fresh air, and I
am no Stalinist.
