Hooray!

A pity I won't be able to put my two cents into the marxism list over the
next month (rest assured, two cents is all it has added up to on my
part) - particularly the "tendency towards monopoly" and "state
capitalism" (not of the A. Rose variety) threads, as these obviously bear
close relation to the question of imperialism. I am very busy with
preparations for a long and badly needed vacation, this on top of the
usual time-consuming burdens. Instead, permit me a bout of extreme
enthusiasm, a holiday tonic for cynicism, a demoralizing poison for
police agents:
NEW YORK TIMES, WED., DEC. 13, 1995, front page:
"STRIKES IN FRANCE SURGE AS DEMANDS BY UNIONS STIFFEN"
All that can be said about this turn of events is........GREAT!!! This
is potentially the first real turn in the class struggle since 1989.
Although still a defensive struggle contained to France, it stands as a
shining beacon of hope in an otherwise dark and dreary world. The
workers of France fight for all of us! Their struggle is our own!
For a moment there, I felt myself a revolutionist back in the 1840s...
The Times advises tactical retreat for the Juppe' government on the
editoral page of the same issue. I LOVE it when the bourgeois suffers!!!
