Ah, you spotted my unconscious mistake! Fortunately I work on the
group analytical principle that the mistakes and the misunderstandings
are sometimes the most creative part of group communication. This
list gives lots of proof of that.

Now, was my slip the result of deeply engrained northern hemisphere
chauvinism? Is there yet a politically correct theory of northern
hemisphere chauvinism? Or just a wider chauvinism in the English speaking
world, between people who play cricket and win, people who play cricket and
lose, and people who cannot be bothered to play cricket at all?

But really perhaps it is deeper. I sent my post on Foundations of
Leninism, as consciously and theoretically provocative as I could make it,
as the first snow was falling beautifully in London, after one of the hottest
summers, and mildest autumns. What are we to call our collective seasons
on this fast spinning planet if they do not have some relation to the soil
and the fabric of people's experience?

All right, you are not immediately anticipating midwinter. And I am sure as
a thoroughly atheistical marxist, you are not about to celebrate Christmas.
Are you then just about to celebrate Yule? Do you have Yule-logs? Or is it
just that you convert them into surfboards, and in my envious fantasies,
spend my winter, repulsively fit, gliding over your sparkling blue waves.

BTW it is very pretty outside my window at this moment.

Now comrade, don't distract me, where were we? There are sixteen days
in which to solve the mysteries of the foundations of Leninism - that is

22nd December (European Gregorian calendar)

 - the next solstice, aphelion, ha!
