Ad: Gadamer
Ralph, ask: please tell us about this book. Was was gadamer's role during
the Nazi period? I saw him here once on the Washington area. Everyone was
fawning all over him like he was a God, but I thought he was a senile old
fart. Who says he is germany 's greatest philosopher and why? Did he
empty Heidegger's bedpan?
The book is dealing with an political and historical reading of Gadamers
publishings during the NS. General result: Gadamers represented as a
philosopher the *spirit of Potsdam* and the old national-conservativ elites
(Bildungsb=FCrgertum), which allied oneself with the Nazi-Movement. 20. Juli
1944 the Potsdamer broke out.
The Frankfuter Allgemeine Zeitung says he is germany 's greatest
philosopher celebrating his 95th birthday.
