Louis:
I shall not mince words here. The League for a Revolutionary Party is a
bizarre little sect that has had no impact on US politics since its
inception. It is a group of Trotskyite kibitzers who see their role in
politics as commenting on other people's "betrayals". They are basically
parasites. They exist in relation to real left politics in the United
States as film critics for the sorts of newspapers that are given away
free at shopping-malls exist in relation to Fellini, Bergman and Bunuel.
Even when these directors screw up, at least they are interesting. Their
"critics" are inconsequential.
Socialism will not be achieved through efforts of groups like "The League
for a Revolutionary Party." Their politics is barren, it consists of
nothing but empty phrase-mongering. Marx was involved in living mass
movements and gave everything he could toward the construction of an
authentic revolutionary international. Groups like the League for a
Revolutionary Party consist of Walter Mittys who dream of leading masses
of workers, but can hardly manage to mobilize their own pitiful
membership for a meeting.
Ultraleft sectarianism is a serious illness in US politics and the League
for a Revolutionary Party is a particulary virulent strand.
