This is really unacceptable.  We have a serious issue with important
things being said and why cannot we address it without sinking to this
level?

I take Lisa's arguments about this march extremely seriously.  It is of
course monstrous that women could be excluded.  The treatment of black
gays should also warrant a mention.  They are possibly the greatest
victims of the Farrakhan bullshit.

I also think Farrakhan is a success because he is so conservative and
that he taps into an equally conservative element within the black
community.  Quite simply he is no threat to the rule of capital.

But I would insist that we refuse the apocalyptic vision that Ralph
offers us, however poetically expressed and however backed up by the
foulest of threats and vilest of abuse.

History is not without its examples of the oppressed following the wrong
leader.  I am thinking here of Engels' comments on the Irish demagogue
Daniel O'Connell, and of course the role of Fr Gapon in the 1905 Russian
mobilisations.  Gapon is an interesting example because he was actually a
Tzarist agent.  But when the conflict moves to a higher level as one day
it will in the USA, never fear, then the Farrakhan's of this world with
their pathetic sexist, homophobic, racist capitalistic nonsense will be
burned away in the furnace of the class struggle.
