        APPEAL FROM CONFEDERATION OF AUTONOMOUS TRADE UNIONS
       OF YUGOSLAVIA FOR URGENT HUMANITARIAN AID



        The WFTU transmits to all affiliates and friends, the following appeal

made by Brother DRAGAN RADULOVIC, President of the Confederation of Autonomous

Trade Unions of Yugoslavia (CATUY) for urgent humanitarian aid:

        "We recently informed you of the exodus of nearly 200,000 people from

Krajina before the offensive of the Croatian army.  With the latest

Croatian-Muslim offensive on Western and North-Western parts of the Republic

of Srpska, about 400,000 people or half of the population have been forced

into exodus.  Most of them are old people, women, children and sick.  Long

columns of feeble and hungry, often exposed to fire, shelling and natural

elements continue to ramble searching for any lodging, food and medicines.

        "Thus, after four years, in spite of efforts to stop war atrocities

and bring about a peaceful settlement of the Yugoslav drama, which is what the

CATUY strongly advocated from the outset, we are faced with a true

humanitarian catastrophe.

        "According to the field reports of the ICRC representatives,

humanitarian aid for refugees is insufficient in all its forms: food,

clothing, footwear and linen.

        "Given your confirmed and traditional trade union solidarity, we

therefore appeal again to you to do your best in providing humanitarian aid to

refugees, without discrimination and irrespective of where they sought

refuge."
