Absolutely. My original message did not complain about that at all.
But I still maintain that there is a basic 'netiquette' involved that
you don't alter or change the original message unless there is a
glaring error in it. The fact remains that by leaving off the original
signature and email address the impression was given that Scott was
the author of at least part of the message and was the email address
for the appeal.

As John knows, I am involved in a lot of labour solidarity work on the
internet which involves me transferring a large number of messages
between different networks and even to and from print. I could carry
out all sorts of tricks if I chose to start altering these messages.
Perhaps an awareness of that fact makes me over zealous concerning the
need to stick to certain rules.

Having said that, I accept Scott's explanation and apologise if I
jumped to a conclusion too hastily.
