Re: Background considerations on Yugoslavia: part 2 (Tito)

A couple of snipes at Lorenzo:
Genocide - just because the Serbs haven't actually killed as many
as the Nazis is hardly for lack of trying. The documentation of the Serb
drive to obliterate Bosnian *culture* as well as society is overwhelming
on many levels. The Croats shied away from this after a while, mostly
from the desire to snuggle up to the West and its media. But I'd retain
the term genocide.
The 1941 coup - fascinating in that it probably saved Stalin.
Hitler was poised to drang nach osten just before the fall of his newly
coined ally. As it turned out, the invasion, delayed crucial weeks by
the response to Yugoslavia, just barely fell short of key objectives in
the USSR. Many consider the '41 coup plotters to be the unacknowledged
saviors of humanity...
Lorenzo is dead right to mention the practical uniformity of
Serbo-Croat. He should tell the Croats this.
