Chris B. cites the above quote from the _Communist Manifesto_ to
support the "content" of the Mao quote. There is more than a little
historical irony here when one considers the author of the alleged quote
and then compares it to the Marx quote. Could the Chinese Communist Party
under Mao's or Deng's leadership be said to have "no interests separate
and apart from those of the proletariat as a whole"? And, of course, the
CCP, Mao and Deng didn't "set up any sectarian principles by which to shape
and mould the proletarian movement", right? The spirit of the quotes may
be similar but there is a wide gulf between what Marx was proposing in
the _CM_ and what was carried out by Mao and the CP in China.
