Re: Zimmerwald, WWII and the UN

I have just joined this list and must confess to having had my doubts
after reading some of the flames so it was good to read Louis Proyect's
piece on WW2. I was especially interested in the reference to the role of
Earl Browder. Browderism was quite influential in the C.P.Australia.
One of the
executive, an Ernie Thornton, advocated following Browder's approach to
party
organisation following WW2 here in Australia, that was apparently to
liquidate the party. Browder I think claimed to have Stalin's support. Denied
and denounced later of course but Browder I think was only acting out the logic
of the Popular
Front. It is ironic to think that the CP s around the world seemed
eventually to have returned to Browder's postion by eliminating
themselves. Certainly that was what happened here in Oz.
Q.s Did Browder genuinely not foresee the outbreak of the Cold War
following WW2? What happened to Browder?
