Homophobia in "Marxism Digest"
- Subject: Homophobia in "Marxism Digest"

As I was reading the latest issue of the Digest (#368), I came across the
latest in the exchange over Benjamin et al. As I was reading I was shocked
to find within the text of the response of Dumain (sp.) what I see as
homophobic comments regarding a musical instrument and a trip to the doctor.
As a young, working class gay man, I found these comments shocking to say the
least. To say the most, I was almost inclined to cancel my subscription.
But I won't. Running away from such crap is the move of a coward. So, I
will say what must be said.
Homophobia has ABSOLUTELY NO PLACE IN MARXISM DIGEST. I can understand this
kind of stuff from people who might subscribe to
http://petty.bourgeois.intellectual/armchair.marxist/~scumbag, but not anyone
who calls themself a "Marxist."
>I suppose you want me to blow, too
This kind of stuff has no place in this magazine! It simply perpetuates the
stereotype prevalent in the lesbian/gay/bi/transgender community that
Marxists don't give two spits about them. As a revolutionary Marxist, and as
a gay man, I do!
>Coincidentally, I went to the doctor this morning and he put his
>fingers up my ass. It didn't do a thing for me, but maybe it
>would have been more fun if I had reciprocated?
As an organization I once belonged to used to say: "Gays Bash Back!" I
consider this kind of filth to be cyber-gay-bashing. So, in the appropriate
medium, I "bash back!"
Hoping You'll Take This as Comradely Criticism;
