This talk about mental versus manual labor has actually pushed me to post
something on this list after a year of lurking. Something that might
help you folks with this distinction by putting it in a historical
context is a book by anthropoligist/historian Kathryn Dudley? called End of
the Line about the closing of the Kenosha Wisconsin auto plants and the
way different people (hand workers and brain workers) perceived the
closing. Pick it up.
