Voix Ouvriere/Dwight MacDonald

Voix Ouvriere was the name of the newspaper of the French Trotskyist
group Lutte Ouvriere from its origins in 1939 ( a split of followers of
the Romanian Barta out of the Parti Ouvrier Internationaliste, if anyone
cares) until 1968, when the French gov't ban on Trot and Maoist groups
necessitated a name change...to Lutte Ouvriere. LO has a very orthodox
ideology (i.e., defended the USSR as a "degenerated worker state"; is
highly secretive, very demanding in the discipline it imposes on its
militants) and is affiliated with (served as the model for) the tiny U.S.
group Spark, similarly cultish and dogmatic. An account of both these
groups is given in the book *Trotskyism and Maoism: Theory and Practice
in FRance and the United States* by A. Belden Fields, published by
