Shareware
Shareware software is available via myriad channels. You can find it
at "ftp" and "gopher" sites on the Internet, on CD-ROMs put together
by small publishing houses (and available at computer shops), and
in distributions by mail order houses.
The basic idea is that you get the program (perhaps somehow limited,
e.g. a comms package that has a maximum speed of 9600 baud; often
unlimited) to use, and if you like it, you send a small fee (normally
between $25 and $50) to the developer direct.
This is in reply to an unsigned message querying "where do you get it"
re shareware.
