ANNOUNCING A CALL FOR A NATIONAL STUDENT ANTIWAR CONFERENCE!!!

When: FEBRUARY 22, 23, 24

Where: COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY, NEW YORK, NEW YORK

Why: At this critical time, the student-based antiwar movement needs to
come together and form a national network that can coordinate actions
and share resources.

The time has come for a NATIONAL CONFERENCE, to build on the successes
of the regional conferences in November and unite the student movement
from coast to coast. On a national conference call on 12/11, elected
representatives from antiwar committees and networks across the country
expressed a strong desire to hold the conference in New York.

People for Peace, the Columbia University/Morningside Heights antiwar
coalition, is offering to host such a conference, in coordination with
other antiwar committees in New York. We believe that one coalition or
one city cannot decide the structure of such a conference or the process
by which it will be run. Therefore, we call for a NATIONAL PLANNING
COMMITTEE, composed of elected representatives from individual
coalitions, citywide and/or regional networks, that can begin to plan
the conference in the most democratic, accountable way possible.

For more information about the national conference, please visit
http://www.antiwarconference.org.

In solidarity,
Laura Durkay, for the People for Peace coordinating committee
