Re: gender-mainstreaming

Living in Germany I usually get involved with bits and pieces from the US. In
this case we have a new concept here - which is number one a hitlist of
concepts, and it is in English - called gender-mainstreaming
can anyone tell me, where this comes from, who uses it, what does it mean
and perhaps even some literature, where it is dealt with?
A google search turns up lots of hits. The first two are:
<http://www.dhdirhr.coe.fr/equality/Eng/Final%20Report%20Mainstreaming.html>
and
<http://www.undp.org/gender/policies/guidance.html>.
Apparently it means bringing issues of gender equity into the
mainstream of policy-making.
