Not at all. And think what it is like without modern gynecology-- all
those women who end up with their wombs coming out their vaginas etc.
the ravages of childbirth were one of the big things impelling margaret
Sanger and other birth control advocates. I don't know how women stood
the whole business, frankly. And when you think that men could have been
practicing coitus interruptus all along, it really makes you wonder
about men --how willing they have historically been to cause suffering
and death to those nearest and dearest just so they can have exactly the
kind of sex they want. No wonder there's a huge trade in sex slaves now.
Oh stop me before i start sounding like Andrea Dworkin.
In London Rev of Books there are ads from a charity that raises money
for surgery for Ethiopian women who have childbirth injuries that cause
rupture of walls bet vagina and rectum -- besides pain, they are
ostracized socially. So they drag themselves to the few hospitals that
can perform what is actually a very simple operation setting all to
rights.
