as you know, these days there are many shades of marxism and feminism, there
are anti-feminist marxists and pro-feminist maxists, just as there are
marxist -feminists and anti-marxist feminists, and many shadings in between.

For the record, Mark, i am a pro-feminist marxist: i consider capitalism to
be a historical subset of patriarchy, its highest and final stage. i
consider imperialism to be 20th century patriarchal male culture's bloody
moment of ultimate  triumph  over the planet and that means, if we believe
in the dialectical unfolding of reality, as i do, that patriarchal
capitalism's  global victory  has also unleashed the forces for its
inevitable decay  and defeat.  the anti-wto movement is just the tip of the
iceberg.

 the culture of male violence ( i include NATO , Fascism, Nazism)  is the
glue that holds imperialism together, imperialism is the highest expression
of male violence, just as 20th century male violence is the highest
expression of imperialism. if you can't see that then what are you doing on
this list?

i think it is very reactionary  for male marxists to, in effect, deny the
highly gendered character of imperialism and counterpose feminism to marxism
as you are not so subtly attempting to do by  carving out a "marxist"
lebensraum  on this list ( and defending Serbia of all places. ) it
encourages a "marxist" vs "feminist" polarization that this list has
struggled to overcome.  bob brown
