Wojtek, the justification of socialized medicine is (as the earlier
subject line put it) a no-brainer, but that was not my point. My
point was the difficulty of marshalling the political forces necessary
to bring it about -- and that has little if anything to do with the
reasons that justify it. Congress is not the editorial board of
a learned journal in the physical sciences. I suggested only
half facetiously that it would be as easy to wage a revolution
as to get socialized medicine through Congress.
