I think it's interesting that when we talk about infusing marxism with
some kind of greater or fresher or open-ended imaginative resonance, the
examples so far have been Wallace Stevens, Ma Rainey and Bessie smith.
these people are from several generations ago -- another age. This only
reinforces the musty feel of the enterprise.

  does anyone have thoughts about artists, poets, singers, musicians,
films, tv that are contemporary?
