Subject: Women's Budget Project
X-Comment: Feminist Economists Discussion Group
Colleagues,
The Economic Policy Institute, the Institute for
Womens Policy Research, and the Women's Budget
Project (WBC) are exploring the possibiity of joint
research on the Federal Budget. The WBC is a
national grassroots organizing and education
effort. They want to study the impact of the
federal budget on women and minorities.
If we are able to make contact with academics
interested in this project, we can seek funding
for research. A team including people from the
organizations above would formulate and supervise
research conducted by contractors.
Potential topics include:
1. What is the composition and impact of
the federal budget from the standpoint of
gender and race/ethnicity?
2. What is the best way to gauge the incidence
of expenditure benefits in terms of gender or
race? What equity issues are raised?
Interested parties can contact me or, if they
prefer, someone at IWPR.
