[CubaNews] On hypocrisy - at THE NATION

Subject: Re:From D.C. With Hypocrisy (The Nation)

Dear Walter,

I wonder what "The Nation" would say if you received massive stipends
from the Cuban government and lived like a king compared to most
workers in this country; and if you went regularly to the Cuban
Embassy to receive cash and instructions from the Ambassador himself;
and then you were arrested for violating the U.S. law re:
unregistered agents of a foreign power ?

Of course that is a stupid question; long-winded too. It would never
happen But why does a liberal outlet like "The Nation" defend the
"rights" of "journalists" whose only outlet is online publications
"published" by known anti--Cuban terrorists?

And which same "journalists" have received many thousand of dollars,
and goods, from the U.S. government, so they could live like kings
and queens compared to most Cuban workers ?

Which same "journalists" have turned visa-approval from the U.S.
State department into a money-making racket, selling "endorsement
letters" that guarantee U.S. Interests Section approval of visa
requests ?

The U.S. government has maintained a consistent policy toward Cuba
since 1959-60; to destroy the Revolution by any means necessary and
any means possible."The Nation" is not defending "independent
journalists"; they are defending paid agents of the U.S. government
posing as "journalists"; these people are racketeers as well. They
don't really want to overthrow the Revolution; they just wanted to
live very well until called to the Empire's bosom and to transfer
their persons and activities to Miami, where their lifestyle could be
upgraded at the expense of the U.S. working people who pay our taxes
in part so as to subsidize these worms.

The real hypocrisy here is in the editorial offices of "The Nation".
They have proven their reliability to whichever bum gets the
Democratic nomination in advance; which bum will be equally hostile
to the Cuban Revolution.

"Listen, Yankee" continues to be a militant classic; reading it the
first time, a decade after its first publication, convinced me as a
teenager that my gut feeling that the Cuban leadership was way more
democratic and popular than the USSR,China, Eastern Europe, etc.

Re-reading it today you can see that the democratic,
anti-bureaucratic perspective held by the Revolution's leaders in its
early days has triumphed, despite the errors and distortions
committed in part by that same leadership during the Grey Period, it
triumphed both during rectification and the Special Period and
beyond; reading "Our History Is Still Being Written" confirms this...

As compaÃero Alarcon pointed out to my delegation in 1993, "the
average Cuban has more possibility to nominate candidates for [ the
National Assembly of People's Power or the U.S. Congress ] than the
average American."

It's really not a question of a free-swinging discussion, held under
the Empire's gunsights; sorry, it IS partly that; it's a question of
whether you defend the activities of paid agents of that Empire as
"independent journalists", Â que no ?

Within the Revolution, anything; against the Revolution, nothing.

In solidarity

Andrew Hunt

P.S. C. Wright Mills would ( politically ) kick David Corn's ass all
over the place, were he alive...then Joe Hansen would tag-team...
