Re: [Critical-Realism] Re: Determinism
Rumour, which as usual distorts a real basis: the spiritual turn (which
however does not for the most part speak of God). Perhaps rumour then got
its lines crossed. Maggie Archer and Doug Porpora are prominent critical
realists who are Catholics, and Dave Taylor is a prominent CR lister. Also
one of Bhaskar's books was recently cited by the Archbishop of Canterbury in
a paper presented at the Vatican. Tony Blair is a sure bet to turn Catholic
some time after resigning, and he embodies everything antithetical to CR....
Rumour is very potent within the academy. If you want something to get
about, take a colleague aside and tell them 'in strictest confidence'
something that they should 'not tell a soul'; it will spread like wildfire,
in greatly exaggerated form. Bhaskar will definitely be the next Pope.

P.S. I'll try to find out where I got the idea that Bhaskar had become a
Roman catholic. Perhaps someone on the list can help me out.
