Re: on Bhaskar's politics was Re: BHA: DPF introductory chapter

Comrades and listers!

My silence on this issue is due to the fact that I am missing some
posts. I have two computers operating and my mail gets divided between
them However since they privatised the damn phone system my home line
keeps going on the blink. Eventually I will get into my email at home and
so will understand what the heat is all about.

In the mean time I will resist the inclination to participate when I do not know what has been said.

regards

Gary

Hi Andrew,

I don't think that you've been an active participant on this list for all
that long, but if you've been a lurker, or if you've looked back over the
discussion from years past, you will appreciate that there's been a real
effort to maintain a list culture of friendly and in some sense collective
intellectual work.

I think that we would all agree that people have different intellectual
styles. Still, there's been a consensus that name-calling and personal
attacks on character are not so helpful. My feeling, anyway, is that it
would be great if you could hold back on that stuff.

I don't know anything about the specific issue of Bhaskar's assessment of
Lenin's reading of Marx and Hegel, so I can't comment on that, but hopefully
I'll be able to take part in any on-going discussion of the text.
