BHA: absence

Hi Caroline,
I see our clever plan worked! Hah!
I share Caroline's reservations about the sense in which some absences, at
least, have ontological status. I remember when I first read it, asking
Tobin what in the world Bhaskar could mean. I'm sure he said something
intelligent and insightful, but what I remember was his passing, joking
reference to the fact that perhaps now we really *do* know how many holes it
takes to fill Alberts Hall. While we're at it, though, can anyone explain
what a "de-ont" is?
R.
