Hi Michael,
I have to say you have me here, I simply don't have enough mathematical
knowledge to engage with you. But your points about mathmeticians are well
taken. But I rarely find such things surprising since from my discussions
with scientists in many branches of the sciences, realism is an operational
principle that they adhere to in their practices, but one they feel no
allegiance to defend in philosophical discussion. I guess as a species we
may well be natural sceptics. I find being a realist, particularly in the
human sciences, is really hard work.
