The world's only superpower is now almost five years into a major unsuccessful war -- at this point one major war and one relatively minor one. Social conditions for an increasingly large percentage of working and poor people are growing worse. The US political system is wildly acknowledged by the chattering classes as being in an almost unprecedented state of disrepute. In the face of all this there isn't a single faint sign of any public collective action by putative Marxists in the United States -- no ongoing publications, and no public activity of any kind.

It can honestly and safely be said that Marxism is dead in the 21st century United States. Marxism now only exists as a method of academic analysis, and as an element in occassional rounds of chit-chat among anchorites.

Maybe since this is called the autopsy list -- (minus the hyphens) -- this would be a good place to begin a post-mortem.
