Re: AUT: taste this, it's awful!

You silly bastard, of course it did! Lodged within this whole thing was a
very obscure critique of your culinary skills. In fact, the whole thing was
about that and it was just another example of obscurantist language playing
around the 'real object': your turkey!
And so you see, there is a real object at the core that everyone is in
denial of...
But seriously, Harald was more to my point. I agree in part with what Nate
and Lowe said as well (esp. the aspect that all academia depends at times on
this kind of language. After I sent it out, I realized I had only specified
Left-ish academia, which in fact is not worse than the rest of academia.) I
am not arguing against language being difficult when it is required, but
that obtuse language can in fact mask an abscence of interesting ideas or it
can be used to avoid addressing a matter clearly and substantively and that
a lot of what passes for analysis, whether dressed up in Leninoid 'realism'
or sophisticated, complex and subtle 'discourse' is just a way of avoiding
real engagement. In that, I am not sure we are any less guilty of that than
the Leninoids.
And yes, the article was stupid in its characterization of Tronti and
autonomia (and the abscence of a distinction between operaismo and
autonomia.) But the rest of the issue was not so clumsy, mostly. In fact,
one of the editorialists also wrote the interesting Cuba Libre and so I see
no reason to dismiss 'Bad Subjects' out of pocket.
Cheers,
Chris
