Patrick, I don't think it means you've been on holiday
before you planned it; it means the planning happened
at a preconscious level before it became conscious,
and your conscious "will" simply gave the nod to what
these forces had already determined.
As for Harald's rantings, it's very strange that he
thinks that proof that actions precede will are
"age-old wisdom", still less "common sense", when the
idea that actions are primarily willed is so
widespread. And clearly the evidence proves that
personal responsibility is a myth, because the self
imagined to be responsible has not in fact
caused/generated the act for which this self is held
responsible.
Harald's rhetoric is getting more and more strained
and hysterical because the humanist-Enlightenment ice
on which he's standing is showing more and more
cracks. And no, it isn't Harald's conscious will
making the arguments, it's his unconscious libidinal
attachment to slave moralities - just as my own
remarks are fuelled by my unconscious (but consciously
known) libidinal pursuit of my own freedom from
oppressive apparatuses.
