AUT: re: family values

The reason I praised Harald's initial post is that I
think he's right that firstly Bush supporters were
voting on "family values" and secondly that this was
subjectively anti a certain kind of capitalism. But I
can't believe he takes seriously the idea that "family
values" as such are worth defending! If you're gonna
start accepting any reactionary defence of
pre-capitalist or early capitalist social organicisms
as worthwhile causes, you might as well go join the
Taleban, who at least (unlike the idiot Bush voters)
are putting up a resistance in the name of their own
image of purified proto-capitalism instead of playing
into the dominant agenda.
If revolutionary consciousness is expressed in
voluntary or transversal coming-together, then "all
that is solid melting into air" can only be seen as a
step forward, as the progressive aspect of capitalism,
vis-a-vis the idea that some specific institution, in
its molar totality, can embody a privileged site of
social conduct or be a legitimate origin of "values".
