Re: AUT: America Implodes

I'm not joking about setting up an underground railroad (well maybe for despondent autonomists). But War Resister Support networks have already been set up in many Canadian cities, including Victoria, Vancouver, and Toronto. We are currently focusing on providing support for US soldiers, Brandon Hughey and Jeremy Hinzman, who are both seeking asylum here.

Since the 1960s things have changed a lot. It is a hell of a lot harder to seek asylum here today; the laws have changed. However, people are overwhelmingly supportive of war resisters. You might've heard on Fox News (who responded by initiating a hate mail campaign) that the city of Nelson, BC is building a monument to draft dodgers.

Anyways I imagine in the next 4 years these networks will only grow.

We need to keep the Canadian option porous for: war resisters; possibly more broadly draft resisters in a couple years; possibly women seeking safe abortions in a couple years; and for non-US citizens who stand a better chance of asylum or at least safety in Canada and for whom deportation to their homeland is a potentially fatal option (e.g., Colombians,etc.).

I would expect more from members of this list, particularly when, as I assume, they don't fall into any of the above categories. I know it was a joke but I don't want to fucking hear it.
