More US troops, bombers, missiles, howitzers, tanks,  warships and  other
support materiel like  Depleted Uranium-238 shells (DU-238), et. al.
arrive at mid-east bases every day. The countdown for a new major Gulf War
for direct US occupation of Iraqi Oil fields continues. President  GW Bush
threatens a rain of ruin and destruction on Iraqi cities. The US corporate
mass  media bombards the masses with avalanches of lies and distortions
here at home. The same multi-millionaire US rulers that punch the political
 buttons for war abroad  wage  a class war here on the homefront against
us. Health, education and welfare spending is being cut to the bone.
Workers are subjected to more overwork  and layoffs mount, but the rulers
say, "United We Stand"-on top of your neck- so  they  can accumulate enough
capital to beat the competition- and stay on top.

 In many countries today, there are hopeful signs of new social movements
emerging against  capitalist militarism. Such movements have the potential
to  change the present situation if masses of  beleaguered working class
forces get seriously involved. In the US, the bosses Republican  party
leads the open charge to war. The Democratic Party is also a tool of the
bosses, but its 'left' wing  cleverly dresses itself up as a 'peace' party.
At the appropriate time they infiltrate the movements and deceive people
into supporting bankrupt schemes, like election circuses and begging the
DemoPublican  political whores for the Pentagon to stop their warmaking.

Liberal Democratic Party Congresspersons like Charles Rangel in New York
are now advocating a return to the military draft under the guise of
'shared sacrifice.' Rangel  and Co. know that even if there was a draft , a
hundred loopholes would assure that the sons of the rich can avoid the
fighting, and even being conscripted at all. Rev. Jesse Jackson is another
slick Democratic  war hawk , but dressed in a dove's  costume. He sells war
on Iraq as a "necessary war" .  Twelve years ago he also praised George
Bush I for what Jackson termed a "stunning victory"  in the aftermath of
the 1991 Gulf  War.
Relying on the Democrats phony 'peace' posturing  and US backroom  bribery
at  the United Nations, is a graveyard for building real opposition to
capitalist militarism. Sure,  a few Democrats may  vote ' No' on this or
that Pentagon funding bill, but they arrange this playacting all the while
knowing there are enough bi-partisan  'Yes' votes in Congress to give the
Pentagon brasshats everything they want and more.

Real opposition to militarism and war means self-organization by ordinary
working people and building militant mass actions that target the root
cause of war, the wage slave system of capitalism itself. The horrid
battle deaths and maimings and the 'collateral damage' (Pentagonese for
mass murder of civilians), are no accident, but the planned needs of the
profit system's expansion  itself. The sickening applause  by  rich
profiteers and media patriots for  war and death  abroad and more workers
sacrifices at home will eventually draw more masses  into anti-capitalist
organization  and actions against the warmaker's system.
