Re: AUT: In the US: ANSWER and the liberals

I would not say that ANSWER (WWP's front group) is
leading the anti-war movement here. They are more
like bus organizers. In fact, I call them the
"Kim Il Sung Bus Company", seeing as they have such a
high opinion of Kim Il Sung and his son who inherited
the stalinist throne of North Korea.
The demonstration here in San Francisco last week was
huge. It may have even been bigger than the one in
Washington. I saw lots of different types of
people...I am certain that few of them know who WWP or
ANSWER is and certainly take no ideological direction
from WWP/ANSWER.
I dont know what the liberal democrats mean by taking
things "back to the mainstream". Maybe they mean the
Democratic Party should be leading the anti-war
movement. I dont think there is any need to worry
about that happening.
Workers World Party did support the repression of the
Hungarian rebellion (I believe that was one of the
reasons for their split from the US SWP) and, more
recently, they supported the crushing of the students
in Tienanmen Square. They're the scum of the earth as
far as I'm concerned. They have a deplorable history
of taking credit for other groups work and of calling
cops on protesters who decide to take "direct action"
during protests. They have about 5 cliches that they
use for every occasion that presents itself. They
deny that Sadam gassed the Kurds.
There is much to complain about in regards to the
Workers World Party. Fortunately, I dont think their
ideological influence is important in the US anti-war
movement. All these US vanguard groups are like
ghosts that haven't figured out that their dead yet.
