AUT: unions against the war??
Scott:
Are you saying that the Iraqui masses should at any time unite
with Saddams Army/ bourgeois regime? Should the workers &
communists in the other countires support that ? how will the
masses see the need then to turn guns around if the opportunity
knocks. This is what almost happened at the end of Gulf War 1--
but the nationalists and religious opposition kept controls on .And if
Hussein
falls- then what , what will workers of Iraq , et al. facing new situation
for
class battles there think about any "solidarity'" that included supports
of any kind for Hussein's hangman regime?
I hope no one falls prey to some kind of very and absurd contradictory
stuff like
'military but no political support' mantras that various trotsky groups
are
putting forward . We are dealing with war of the biggest imperialist bully
(US) against a regional bourgeois thug regime of Iraq. Both sides are
reactionary , Both will shoot any workers that revolt against capital
down. Both
sides must be opposed by us.
In US, we must oppse all the tricks of our own ruling class, faith in UN
claptrap , alliance systems ,bribery of European bosses, our
main enemy is at home too. As militarist violence increases and more
casualties develop, workers in US, will see clearer the bosses
are using them as cannon fodder for oil and profits , and things could
eventually start to shatter the relative class peace here in US too, its
happened before, throw in the economic decline and masses sacrifices,
and things could get really interesting for fighting bourgeois rule
on many fronts.
The cdes. here who correctly abhor the lib-lab-pacifist, religio
-labourite
political hegemony in the western anti-war actions/struggles should wage
political ideological struggle against this inside the movements/actions ,
if we are right about the period, the masses will get more experience and
move forward against the refromist- legalist-electoralist rot to
opposition.
This is part of the movement dialectic , there is a 'UNITY'
in the meetings of masses angry in the events and there is a STRUGGLE of
contending class forces there too!!
Let's face up to our responsibilites.
