This is intriguing reading:

"I began my contribution to this thread by comparing
the attitude of Harald toward the Palestinian
revolution to the attitude of Kautsky, the Menshevik,
and Otto Ruhle, the ultra-leftist, towards the
Bolshevik revolution.
"Both Kautsky and Harald reject real revolutions
because they do not meet an abstract model for a
post-capitalist society. Kautsky and Ruhle thought
that Russia was not advanced enough to break from
capitalism, and that the Russians should wait for
Europe. For them, the degeneration of the Russian
revolution was inevitable, because it took place in a
backward and isolated country.
"For Harald and so many anarchists, the
pre-revolutionary situation and the intifada that has
produced it should also be put on hold, until the
whole East Mediterranean is ready to break from
capitalism. Any revolution that begins in Palestine
alone is doomed to failure. (Presumably Harald
and co. would oppose a revolution in Argentina
alone, because of the same objection to
'nationalism')"

Let us forgot the minor factor of the missing
revolution, and for a moment also accept the
delusion of a pre-revolutionary situation (I assume
revolution here is meant to have something to
do with going beyond capitalism). Let us also
assume that the exstence of a broad social
revolutionary movement.

At this point I suggest I suggest you buy
yourself a map and compare the size of
Gaza and the West Bank with the old Russian
Empire. You have in your replies to Chris
compared the situation to that existing after
the February Revolution. All we are waiting
for is supposedly October.

We have reduced the Russian Empire to
the size of Gaza and the West Bank,. We then
take into consideration a bordering hostile
state with the same comparable military
superiority as Israel has in relation to the
forces of PLO, Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
And then add that this neighbouring state
according to youself is "the main beach-
head of" of a military power proportionally
comparable to the present day US, and
that this superpower is furthermore not
in the middle of a war with let us say the Europe
Union. Under this circumstances, in the
very unlikely situation that there at all had
been a revolution in Russia, it would have
lasted about half an hour. "Socialsm in one
country" surely has obtained an entire
new meaning.

The "military block" you refer would as a very
minimum had to include an alliance with Assad
jr. and Saddam (better move fast.). But you are
actually talking about a "miltary block" with Arafat and
Hamas and islamic Jihad. Why not also
include the "black block"? I am sure that would
do the trick. And I am sure Bush would stand
idle by. Curiously enough, but not to be surpised
by at this level of hallucination, you are accusing
me for promoting a sucidal perspective, not
even seeing the irony and tragi-comedy in that
the existing "armed struggle" you are referring
to is suicidal in its most literally sense.

"In my view, what Harald is offering is not only
demands for reforms, but *reformism*. In other
words, Harald has faith in the ability of reforms
to achieve what only revolution can achieve."

I who always thought "reformism" in the classical
sense was defined as the belief in achieving a
classless society through parliamentary reforms,
and not by capitalism being reformed to more
productively exploit workers. It is tempting to say,
that as Trostskyist it is only rational that Scott
should confuse the latter with "only revolution can
achieve."

But then again, and not due to any overdue
respect for Trostsky, that Scott's dellusions
has everything to do with phscology and nothing
at all to do with Trotsky, who despite all did
not confuse blood reality with the complete
disregard for natural laws posible in a comic
strip.

The scenario of an East Meditarrean political-
economical confederation is not more radical
than it probably would be preferred by the
European Union, and capitalists throughout
the region, including entrepreneuring
capitalists in Israel of the more neo-liberal kind.
The Zionist project has become an anacronism.
Washington might see it otherwise.

                            * * *

As for the rest. I think I already said enough. In
the event that an uprising occurs throughout
Lebanon and Syria, and/or in Iraq, we will at
least have something to talk about. That you
do not even mention these neighbouring
states, says everything there is to say. Trostsky,
combined with too many Holywood movies
sure makes a strange cocktail.

And I am eagerly awaiting Kautsky's latest
writings on Palestine.

You asked for it.

Harald
