hi,

in september 2002 there were some reports around the then
running campaign for inscriptions of sans-papiers in france.
(perhaps someone living in france could give some more
information).

the "collectif multitude" is a collectif of chinese
immigrants living in paris, especially in the XI
arrondissement. in the press some reports wrote of some
hundred individuals organized in "multitude"(see libération
9/25), and estimated some hundred thousands of chinese
immigrants living in france at present. whereas some years
ago the immigrants came in most cases from zhejiang
province, and immigrated by the help of family and
community, the migration has changed nowadays, more people
come from the north of china, migration is more individually
organized, and the migrants have "higher education" ecc.

sorry that i haven't got more information on this.
btw. discussion about "copyright" on multitude seems a bit
odd to me. you find it in french literature (and that's why
you'll find it in the dictionaire) throughout centuries,
from rabelais to balzac and from victor hugo to zola. a good
reading.
