hey tahir
individualist anarchism is an interesting thing
because until very recently the term denoted a sort of
"anti-capitalism" based in proudhon, ben tucker,
josiah warren and a few other folks (i belive
http://dwardmac.pitzer.edu/Anarchist_Archives/ has
some writing by these folks). it was only recently
that some folks started combinding this point of view
with ayn rand influenced psuedo-individualism and
pro-capitalism to create the perspective you're
talking about.
as far as its influence, i think it has a hearing in
some far-right republican ruling class circles and
within the tiny libertarian party here, but that's
about it. aspects of it did have some influenced on
the militia movement on the mid-90s (particularly
anti-statism and amarican isolationism)... but most
militia folks are anti-coporate (tho pro-capitalism...
go figure), and rothbard and his ilk is fond of
talking about how corporations should run things.
as far as chomsky, he has intensely attacked this
position a few times in the past. i'm pretty sure he
places himself in the anarcho-syndicalist camp (he's a
member of the iww). tho, interestingly, he is at times
quite open about his influences from the left
(particularly council) communist side of things.
