Not disagreeing with your general crit of the liberal-humanitarian approach,
but you still have to persuade me that immigration causes a decline in
wages/conditions.

Phil makes some points in that direction, and Thiago noted that:

Which I think is quite accurate.

So, it seems to me that the liberal-humanitarian approach (adopted also by
the trots here because they are in any case jumping on bandwagons and have
no rhetoric of their own) can be faulted principally insofar as it does not
even begin to address the mystiques of 'population' and 'labour market', and
so ends up being nothing more than a demand that people show 'compassion' -
and at a time when I think most people would rather express rage.
