Re: AUT: The term "left-wing"

I find the absolute and passionate statements on
the "true meaning" of such a very vague term as
"the left" pretty riduculous. The problem with the
term lies in it being used as if it was self-evident
what it meant.
As with socialism, communism and anarchism,
I am generally inclined to reexproriate the term
"left". As for instance, by saying "if there is to
have any meaning to talk about a left today, this
must imply ...." Some times I use the "so-called
left," just as I may talk about "so-called communist
parties." More times I probably avoid using it. In
all cases, whatever one of those old labels one
choose to use today, there is no way around
defining how one use them and what one put
into them. It is the substance of what one has to
say that counts the most in all circumstances.
