Hi Chris,
I would definitely be interested in seeing any analysis on the Critique of
the Gotha Programme - particularly from a non-orthodox point of view,
especially as I see this piece as pivotal in delineating socialist from
communist and those in between (to over-simplify recklessly, I see a right -
centrist - left division between socialists - those who believe that the
lower stage is necessary before the higher, centrists - the lower stage was
once necessary but if it is possible to go directly to the higher stage then
that is preferable, and the communists - the ower stage will never lead to
the higher stage and can only lead to counter-revolution and the reformation
of capitalism). Be good if you could get it onto the list (or the web and
pass an URL).
BTW I haven't forgotten about your essay on Marxism and WSP, I have managed
to get through it all in fits and starts - I need to re-read and then send
you considered points. But braodly speaking I agree with your general crits
of RT folks (although as I have no knowledge of them or their stuff - apart
from 2nd or 3rd hand, that's kinda not as valuable an opinion as if it were
otherwise). Although I'm still a bit wary of the link between enlightenment
& racism stuff - I looked at Loren Goldners 2 arts on the web (pub'd in RT
originally I believe) and while I enjoyed some of it I disagreed with his
point about secularism being needed to undermine the catholic theology of
"equal in the eyes of god" - has the guy never heard of Calvin , the
doctrine of double pre-destination etc. - the very reason the apartheid
system in "Northen Ireland" has been able to express itself through religion
was precisely for the reason that a religious foundation for racism was
found through Calvin and presbyterianism - hey, in their belief us taigs
were condemned to burn in hell for all enternity before we were even born by
god himself, who needs "scientific racism" when you've got that sort of
licence to kill?
Enough, back to wage slavery :(
