Harsh words, Guy! Not that I disagree with you entirely, but it would be very interesting to hear you develop that thought a little further. Are unions *always* an evil - and, if so, aren't they at least a *necessary* evil for organising the day to day struggle against capital? (Of course I'm not talking about the monolithic, top-down socialdemocratic unions here, but rather the anarcho-syndicalist brand of workers' organization.) I am of course familiar - and largely symapthetic to - the council-communist critique of the thought of the union as a revolutionary agent (Pannekoek, Mattick, Castoriadis et al.) - is that where you are coming from?

(Oh, by the way, for those of you who don't already know me - I'm a 26 year-old student and anarcho-communist from Stockholm, Sweden, who've been lurking around the fringes of this list for longer than I can remember... If you read swedish, or know anyone who does ;-) fell free to check out the website of Frihetlig Press, the libertarian socialist magazine I spend a lot of my time working on: www.motkraft.net/frihetligpress )
