AUT: Battle in Seattle sites
Best of the Battle in Seattle from Art McGee
CB
(((((((((((((((((
Hi Folks,
Wow! I can't even remember how much email I received in the last week
regarding the WTO and "Globalization." If I said 1,000 messages that
would be a serious understatement.
In order to relieve you of the burden of being flooded with so much
information, which would have been counterproductive, I instead decided
to send a compilation of the most important sites containing news and
information about the WTO and the events in Seattle last week, which you
can browse at your leisure.
If most of what you know about the protests and demonstrations was what
you read/heard/saw in the mainstream media, you're in for a shock:
Emperors New Clothes
http://www.emperors-clothes.com
(In particular, take a look at an article called "Collateral Damage
in Seattle" at http://www.emperors-clothes.com/analysis/collater.htm )
Independent Media Center
http://www.indymedia.org
(They were ground zero for alternative media coverage of the WTO events)
Public Citizen/Global Trade Watch
http://www.citizen.org/pctrade/gattwto/gatthome.html
http://www.seattle99.org
(Take a look at "A Citizen's Guide to the WTO" at address

ZNet/Z Magazine
http://zena.secureforum.com/wto-watch/index.cfm
http://www.zmag.org/CrisesCurEvts/Globalism/GlobalEcon.htm
(Lots of original commentaries from many famous Leftists)
Corporate Watch
http://www.corpwatch.org/trac/feature/wto/
(Always my favorite site on just about any subject they tackle)
AlterNet
http://www.alternet.org/wto.html
(A good collection of articles summarizing many of the issues)
Left Business Observer
http://www.panix.com/~dhenwood/Seattle.html
(On the ground reports and photos from Doug Henwood)
Democracy Now
http://www.democracynow.org
(Pacifica Radio archived feed that you can listen to with RealPlayer)
National Lawyers Guild
http://www.nlg.org/wto/
(They're helping with the legal issue of getting protestors out of jail)
rTMark
http://www.gatt.org
(Spoof of the official WTO/GATT site. The only difference is the truth!)
