no. it might well be an increase in the velocity of global capital, as
well as important changes such as the deregulation of laws which apply to
money and employers, but the opposite is true of laws which apply to
workers -- these are more coercive, more regulated, etc.
i also think this is connected to what we might call an interregnum in
global hegemonial organisation, where, as the guy said, all manner of
morbid things happen... including the resort of an ostensibly oppositional
movement to racism and chauvinism. forgive the grim tone, but the ease
with which sections of the left in australia sounded the war drum makes me
think of WWI.
