                                                    Human Blockade against
Indonesian Cargo

                                                    About 25 people have
entered the water, near the Docklands, in
                                                    Melbourne to protest
against the arrival of a ship, carrying

                                                    Indonesian cargo.

                                                    Swimmers and protesters
on surf-boards and in small boats are
                                                    planning to form a
human blockade as the ship comes in to dock.

                                                    The action follows a
rally of more than 1000 people outside the
                                                    Indonesian Consulate in
Queens Road, which was blocked to
                                                        traffic.

                                                    The protest, which
lasted almost three hours, called for the
                                                    immediate deployment of
peacekeepers to East Timor, food
                                                    drops and the
withdrawal of the Indonesia military from the
                                                        province.

Groenen told the rally the protest was
                                                    against the military,
not the people of Indonesia

                                                    "We don't target our
anger at the Indonesian people, but we
                                                    target our anger at the
Indonesian military, who are the
                                                    perpetrators of over 24
years of violence.

                                                    "They are the
perpetrators of killings in Indonesia and the
                                                    assassinations in
Indonesia as well.

                                                    "So lets remember it is
not the Indonesia people, who are also
                                                    suffering, but the
Indonesian military."
