I do not understand: who is 'we' in this conversation? the working-class
or 'our' nation(s) (e.g. Australia, UN, etc.)?

isn't autonomy all about people acting autonomously? how would Indonesian
national versus some other capitalist but multinational imperialism
compare? I caught a relevant 'joke' in another e-mail (on Bulgaria): a
bomber passes over Bulgaria toward Serbia and one pilot says to the other
"I wonder? Have we dropped bombs here?" "Don't be silly," answers the
other. "It is Bulgaria! They look like that without bombing."

now I'm listening to Chomsky on the radio in Boston and I am frustrated in
the same way as the regional-block analysis of his about the Balkans --
why stop the analysis at supposedly paramount concerns of blocks like the
US and EU being worried about some competing independent Asia? When this
was talked about in terms of 'communism' at least I could read the class
conflict in it (although I haven't deeply studied or experienced this),
but now radicals like Chomsky retreat into competing nations instead of
directly and explicitely addressing competing classes

phew, writing like this may not be my best but I would like to encourage
more e-mails on this list on what's going on right now so I can understand
and thus know what to do better
