AUT: Greg Minns

Folk will remember that I posted a leaflet by Greg concerning his appeal
against a mental health tribunal a couple of weeks back. Today I got a
letter from him. Sadly, he lost his appeal. However, he wrote:

"Thanks for your letter and support. It feels good to know there are still
people out there that give a shit. I'm really pleased with the support I've
got from people, they reckon there's been letters from all over the world
asking to release me. They even got a fax from Vancouver or something.

"I'll let you know what's been going on with me. Well, I has my appeal on
the 18th and unfortunately I lost it ..... the situation at the moment is
that I am still on a 'section' i.e. not allowed out unescorted and have to
take my medication and I have been moved into a residential home. My
section ends in November and should I get put on a section 25 (residential
order) I will be appealing again straight away. Meanwhile, I would be
grateful if people could (if it's no trouble) try and put pressure on Dr
Launer to give me unescorted leave and take me off the section."

I'll get back in contact and ask him what he wants done to put pressure on
the Doctor - I presume he knows him best and can advise on what to put in
letters/faxes etc. I'll also see if Greg wants me to publciise his address
so folk can write direct to him.

So thanks for the solidarity shown, the letters/faxes can only have come as
a result of the postings on the lists I have sent this to.

Keep the faith

Bob
